One Week Left for Chicago Book Drive!

Posted by Jerry Duchene Saavedra on January 7, 2011

Servenext Chicago has launched a book drive to benefit Chicago Public Schools. This book drive will run from December 11, 2010 to January 16, 2011. They currently have a total of 43 participating locations for you to stop in and donate any unused books you may have.  For participating locations, click here.

The Book Drive:
Where: North and Northwest Chicago Communities
When: December 11th, 2010 through January 16th, 2011
Needed: Books of all different levels for preschoolers to high school

The Context:
Chicago Public Schools is installing a new system using everyday books to help teach literacy to students across the city. It is believed that this approach more appropriately engages the students and encourages them to develop a life-long love of learning and reading while giving teachers the tools they need to properly assess where each student is in their learning ability and how they can best meet the needs of each student.

The Benefit:
The books will be donated and leveled within the CPS system to be placed in classroom libraries. Children will be able to enjoy these books both in the classroom and at home.
