1. The Chronicle of Philanthropy announced that the number of American volunteers this year has not changed from last year, even during this economic downturn. 

2. Beth’s Blog featured a guest post entitled “Building a Movement in an Interconnected World.” This post reports on an interview with Jacqueline Novogratz, founder and CEO of the Acumen Fund

3. Idealist.org posted a piece entitled “Creative Fundraising Ideas in Tough Times.” This piece reports on a few charities that have found some very innovative and low cost ways to fundraise. 

 

View Image4. Sean Stannard-Stockton published an audio recording on his blog, Tactical Philanthropy, of an interview featuring him moderated by Peter Panepento, a representative from the Chronicle of Philanthropy. The interview is entitled “Philanthropy in a Post-Recession World.” 

5. The Philanthropy Journal referenced to a piece by the Memphis Daily News entitled “Study Shows Recession’s Impact on Nonprofit Orgs.” This piece reports that nonprofits in the mid-west are significantly struggling in this recession.
