Thursday Highlights

1. The Chronicle of Philanthropy reported that “The American Red Cross surpassed its $100-million fund-raising target for the past nine months and has cut its deficit by more than three-quarters.” 

2. Causecast made mention to a post entitled “How to Start a Nonprofit.” The post includes valuable tips on how to declare nonprofit status. It also offers a few pointers on how to see to a nonprofit’s success. 

3. The Charity Navigator Blog published a short piece entitled “Money’s List of Best Places.” This piece is a compilation of charities in or surrounding Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live

4. The Fundraising Coach offers an entire webpage of fundraising ideas for those who are new to the process. The webpage offers links to articles, tools, and audio information that can help when trying to raise money for a cause. 

5. The Philanthropy Journal mentioned a piece published by entitled “Infospace Launches Charity Search Engine.”  “Infospace, an internet service based in Bellevue, Washington, has launched, a new search site that compiles search results from Google, Bing, Tahoo and Ask and will donate money to charity each time used.”
