1. The Chronicle of Philanthropy published a piece entitled “New York City Seeks to Reduce Payments to Homeless Shelters.” The piece reports that the city is seeking state approval to cut payments to nonprofit organizations and shelters that have failed to place individuals in stable housing within six months. 

2. Idealist.org is looking for photos of “diverse and exciting ways that people can work in the nonprofit sector.” The photos will be used to showcase career opportunities in the nonprofit world. They will be displayed during the site’s Nonprofit Career Month.

3. Tactical Philanthropy announced the Social Venture Partners Conference. It will be held in Dallas, Texas October 22-24.

4. The Nonprofit Board Crisis posted a piece entitled “Maybe How Nonprofit Hospitals will be Nonprofit.” The piece details the economic trouble nonprofit and profit hospitals are having in this economic crisis.

5. Blackbaud announced the “Index of National Fundraising Performance” for the first quarter of 2009. The index includes revenue and donor trends and long-term trends.
