1. The Chronicle of Philanthropy will be hosting a live discussion concerning the success of capital campaigns in the recession. The discussion will be held on Thursday, June 25th, at 12 noon. Click here for more details. 

2. The Chronicle of Philanthropy also announced that according to a new study release, the number of grant makers who are interested in helping women and girls has grown in the past few years.

3. posted a piece entitled “Career Corner Podcast: Transitioning into a Nonprofit Career.” This piece offers answers to several questions concerning nonprofit careers. 

4. The Fabulous Giver reported that Michelle Obama spoke at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in San Francisco, encouraging people to volunteer during the “United We Serve” campaign. The campaign will last the duration of the summer and encourages community service.

5. Social Earth announced that the Top 5 finalists of the Staples/Ashoka Youth Social Entrepreneur Competition have been announced. The five finalist teams are: DeuKische Generation, Empower India, Minnesota Campus Energy Challenge, Movimento MudaBrum, and Pachamama.
