Monday’s Highlights

1. The Chronicle of Philanthropy published a piece entitled “Online Network Promotes Service Campaign.” This piece discusses myimpact.org, a website created by two college students that is a forum for people to share their experiences while participating in President Obama’s Summer Service Campaign. Volunteers can post photographs, videos, and stories from their service projects. 

2. A. Fine Blog announced the release of the assessment report entitled “America’s Giving Challenge.” This assessment report concerns the Giving Challenge, a 50 day event that lasted from December 2007 to January 2008. 

3. Idealist.org made mention of a campaign that started June 20th. The campaign, known as the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale, is intended to raise money for various animal shelters and wildlife rescue organizations. During this week over 70 communities will be organizing bake sales.

4. Tactical Philanthropy makes reference to an article entitled “Charity Fat Cats.” This article compares the salaries of a CEO who works at a nonprofit organization to a CEO who works at a for profit organization. 

5. The Fabulous Giver announced the “Style Your Sole” at Akira. This events gives people the opportunity to design their own pair of TOM’s shoes. TOM’s shoes is a company that promises for every pair of shoes purchased, a pair of shoes is given to a child in need. The event will be taking place on Thursday, June 25th from 4 to 9 pm.
