Baby Boomer Buzz Continues

The momentum behind retiring baby boomers entering the non-profit world continues to grow.  The Chronicle of Philanthropy just covered the results of a new survey commissioned by Civic Ventures, a non-profit that engages older folks in service activities.

The survey found that, “At least 6 percent of Americans between the ages of 44 and 70, or 5.3 million people, are working in second careers with charities, governments, schools, or other institutions that benefit society.”  This percentage will surely continue to grow.

A reader who left a comment at the bottom of the article on the Chronicle’s website asked an interesting question: Are they [boomers entering the non-profit work force] taking jobs away from millenials?

Interesting question.  Is this a valid concern?
