On Tuesday, February 26th, the chairman of the DNC, Howard Dean came to speak at Georgetown University. Eleven fantastic students attended the event wearing the ServeNext t-shirt. Governor Dean spoke in honor of Black History Month, and he addressed the role of politics in promoting inclusion.

I asked him a question about how Dr. King’s vision of service aligns with the goals of his party, and I asked him to commit to incorporating the ServeNext pledge into the Democratic Party’s 2008 platform. He replied that although it is the candidate who writes the platform, he believes strongly in making a commitment to national service. Governor Dean believes that 60 to 70% of our generation should dedicate a year to service, and he wants to link service to paying for college. Governor Dean also signed the ServeNext pledge T-shirt. Look for more exciting updates from of Georgetown!
