Former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) greeted volunteers with City Year New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon following his closing keynote at College Convention 2008 in Manchester.  These hard-serving AmeriCorps members were on hand all week, leading college students from across the country in painting murals that promote literacy and healthy choices for public school students Manchester and Nashua.

The event was the first in a series of events sponsored by ServiceVote, Youth Service America’s campaign to engage young people in the political process, beginning with voting. Building on the significant recent growth in both youth volunteering and voting, ServiceVote 2008 challenges young people to think critically about how they can affect the issues that they work to address through service by participating in the political process and provides opportunities for them to participate in the presidential election.
