Huckabee finds fellow AmeriCorps supporter in runningmate

Posted by aaronjmarquez on November 12, 2007

Call him premature, but former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) has found himself a runningmate. No, he isn’t a few months early… he’s years early!

On Saturday morning at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, Foster’s Daily Democrat photographer John Huff captured 2008 Presidential candidate Huckabee (far R) running alongside ServeNext member and 2024 Presidential candidate Robin Thomas (far L).

According to a Facebook group called I Will Vote For Robin Thomas for President in 2024:

We are all one in our cause: the pursuit of the American dream, the sparkling Ideal of which we are all nobly worthy. Too long have we been deceived by corruption, conflict, hatred, and inhibited from this glorious end. Fellow countrymen, it is time for a change. It is time the powers of true responsibility took their place in the White House, not the all-too-common powers of avarice and lusts for undeserved power. Make the advance towards our nation’s shining future, and elect me your Future President. I, Rob Thomas, will play the part of Chief Executive better than the other Rob Thomas plays rock guitar.

But the real question remains whether or not Thomas can play the part of Chief Executive better than Huckabee can play rock bass. Originally from Ohio, Thomas will attend Stanford University after his gap year of service in New Hampshire.

Some quick numbers on the day:

  • Thomas and Huckabee finished their 5k in under 30 minutes.
  • 8 ServeNext members braved the cold and ran on Saturday morning.
  • Huckabee has lost over 100 lbs. since he started running in 2003.
  • As of 11/11/2007, 416 people have joined the Thomas for President Facebook group.
  • If elected President, Huckabee will expand AmeriCorps by 100,000 members!

  2. It was an honor to literally run for President alongside Mr. Huckabee this past Saturday, and I wish him and his fellow candidates the best of luck in their pursuit for a better America.
