Dodd, Clinton mention National Service in debate

Posted by Zach Maurin on July 25, 2007

Presidential candidates Dodd and Clinton both received applause from the audience when they discussed universal national service during the Democratic debate. It was nice to hear, but Dodd is still the ONLY candidate who has announced a bold, comprehensive national service platform.

Obama, Clinton, Edwards, and Richardson — the four democratic front runners — are still lacking an overdue commitment to National Service so that more Americans can serve our communities and schools. Going to be in New Hampshire? Iowa? If so, ask the candidates yourself about their plans to expand AmeriCorps, service-learning, Senior Corps, and other great programs. If you’re interested in attending a candidate forum, let me know at See other blog entries for examples of ServeNext members asking candidates questions about National Service expansion.
