There’s big news today from ServeNext in New Hampshire. Presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich, a Democratic congressman from Ohio became the first candidate to sign ServeNext’s Presidential Pledge to Expand National Service.
The pledge calls for increasing annual AmeriCorps by 100,000 (to 170,000), expanding the Peace Corps, funding service learning programs and expanding service opportunities for Americans 55 and older.
The Congressman spoke of the need for “a nation dedicated to service” and proposed allowing young people who perform two years of National Service to attend a public college or university tuition free.
