Saturday: Rally for the Future of the Peace Corps

Posted by zachmaurin on June 12, 2009

I wrote an email to the DC-area members of ServeNext about the rally tomorrow — why it’s so important for me personally and for the Peace Corps, which is one of America’s great programs.  I’ve copied it below the flyer.  Hope you can make it tomorrow and spread the word!

Hello DC-Area ServeNext Friends:

Sorry for the late notice, but I wanted to quickly tell you about a great event tomorrow in Washington, DC:

Hundreds of citizens will be rallying to show our elected leaders the energy and support for a bold, new Peace Corps. Come on out tomorrow and help make it even more energetic and exciting. Be inspired by great speakers and entertained with some great music. The Peace Corps is at a critical moment in terms of legislation and funding, and this rally is about showing the incredible support for it so that our leaders get the message. We need everyone there!

The time for a stronger and bigger Peace Corps has never been more important. For more details visit www.MorePeaceCorps.org.

My sister, cousin, and a number of friends have served with the Peace Corps, and I’ve heard their incredible stories of social justice and change. That’s why this rally is so important to me and that’s why the Peace Corps is so important to America and the world. I hope to see you tomorrow — it will be fun, inspiring, and really important!

In service,
Zach
