New Hampshire campaign talks with Edwards, but…

For the fifth time, ServeNext members have engaged presidential candidate John Edwards in discussions about National Service. He seems genuinely supportive and has verbally committed to our request of expanding AmeriCorps by 100,000 members in his first term (seen here). However, since reading and verbally committing to signing the ServeNext Presidential Pledge to Expand National Service, the senator’s campaign has back-peddled a bit on this, saying that Edwards does not sign pledges. Nonetheless, he read the pledge after a May forum in NH and agreed to sign…
Last weekend, a ServeNext member caught up with Edwards after a forum to reissue our request for him to sign the pledge which will formalize his commitment to National Service, if elected. Edwards said he will read it himself and consider adding his name to the list of candidates who have already signed.
